Anders Ahlberg in the shop

About

I'm Anders Ahlberg, a multi-disciplinary maker working out of a garage shop in Madison, Wisconsin. I design and build things that sit at the intersection of craft, technology, and problem-solving.

My work spans woodworking, electronics, acoustics, CNC fabrication, sewing, leather, and CAD modeling. The common thread is that every project starts in CAD — I model the problem before I cut anything. This design-first approach makes sure we are on the same page for what a solution is before anything gets made.

I gravitate toward problems that don't have off-the-shelf solutions: a PA amplifier that replaces a 100-pound rack unit, a storefront sign that weathers Wisconsin winters, a modular shelf that fits an exact wall. The fun is in figuring out how to make things that have not been built yet.

What I Work With

Woodworking & Joinery

Traditional joinery with hand tools.

CAD & 3D Modeling

CAD for every project. Model the problem before cutting material so we are on the same page.

Electronics, Acoustics & DSP

Speaker and Amplifier builds, signal processing.

CNC (Shaper Origin)

Handheld CNC for precision cuts on large-format work or on site.

Sewing & Soft Goods

Technical soft goods and leather.

3D Printing

Prototyping fixtures, jigs, and functional parts.

Design-First Process

Every project starts as a 3D model. Here's what that looks like in practice — CAD renders and design options alongside the finished piece.
